لجأتُ إلى الباب الجماليّ قاصداً

فقابل آمالي من السعد خادم

فقابل آمالي من السعد خادم

I sought refuge at the Jamali gate, seeking my goal;

I have resorted to the door of beauty, seeking

So a servant of good fortune greeted my hopes.

To find my hopes of bliss attended by a servant;

وفي العلمين الجائزين بخاطري

وفي العلمين الجائزين بخاطري

أوامر للقصد الجميل تلازم

أوامر للقصد الجميل تلازم

And in the two arts passing through my mind,

And in both possible worlds my mind holds dear

Commands continually accompany the noble purpose.

Commands to bind me to this noble aim.

فهذا بديوان الرسائل منتشٍ

فهذا بديوان الرسائل منتشٍ

وهذا بديوان المدائح ناظم

وهذا بديوان المدائح ناظم

So this one is elated in the collection of letters,

There sits one with the Chancery of Praise, composing verses.

And this one composes verse in the collection of panegyrics.
