طلبت ريّ الغليل منها

طلبت ريّ الغليل منها

وعاذلي يطلب المحالا

وعاذلي يطلب المحالا

I sought from her the quenching of my burning thirst.

I asked the one who quenches my thirst for a drink

And my reproacher seeks the impossible.

But she who rebukes me asks for the impossible

عنفني ثم قال تسلى

عنفني ثم قال تسلى

عن حبِّ ماما فقلت لالا

عن حبِّ ماما فقلت لالا

He rebuked me, then said, 'Move on

She was harsh with me, then said "Be consoled"

From your love for Mama.' So I said, 'No, no.'

"Stop loving the inaccessible," I said "No, no"
