أقولَI say لدَبَّابٍto one who creeps علىupon المردفيthe beardless youths in الدّجىthe darkness
أقولَ لدَبَّابٍ على المردفي الدّجى
تأخرkeep back عنfrom الظبيthe gazelle الذيwho عزَّbecame unassailable جانباin flank
تأخر عن الظبي الذي عزَّ جانبا
I say to one who creeps upon beardless youths in the darkness:
I say to the tank in the dusk's gloom
Keep back from the gazelle whose flank is unassailable.
Fall back from the deer who strode aside
فقدfor indeed بثَّdeployed عبدُservant اللهGod جندَtroops انْتقامهhis vengeance
فقد بثَّ عبدُ الله جندَ انْتقامه
علىagainst الليلِthe night حتَّىuntil ماnot تدِبُّcreep عقاربهits scorpions
على الليلِ حتَّى ما تدِبُّ عقاربه
For Abd Allah has deployed the troops of his vengeance
For Abdullah's soldiers have sown
against the night, until its scorpions no longer creep.
Through the night, till its spiders won't bide
