تكادُ بها الأقلام تعشب باللمس
I have thirsted to kiss a generous hand,
I thirst to kiss a gracious hand,
at whose touch pens almost sprout grass.
At whose touch pens turn to grass.

وحسبك أني لا أرى بهجة الشمس
And sleeplessness and weeping have inflamed my eyes,
My eyes are dim with sleeplessness and tears,
and it is enough for you to know that I cannot see the sun’s radiance.
It's enough that I no longer see the sun's splendor.
