I have no wish to remain in al-Sham now that departure has summoned
I have no desire left for Damascus after

وكيفand how أختارI choose المقامresidence فيin حمىًa haven
وكيف أختار المقام في حمىً
لاno صاحبٌcompanion فيهin it ولاand no خليلclose friend
لا صاحبٌ فيه ولا خليل
And how can I choose to dwell in a haven
How could I choose to stay in a place
With neither companion nor close friend in it?
