تهنّ بالأعياد يا عيدها

تهنّ بالأعياد يا عيدها

في أفق فضل ومقامٍ كريم

في أفق فضل ومقامٍ كريم

Rejoice in the festivals, O festival of them all,

on a horizon of excellence, in a noble station.

فطراً لمن والاك نحراً لمن

فطراً لمن والاك نحراً لمن

عاداك ذا عدنٌ وهذا جحيم

عاداك ذا عدنٌ وهذا جحيم

A fast-breaking feast for whoever is loyal to you, slaughter for whoever

opposes you: Eden for the former, Hell for the latter.

أهدي لك المدح وأرجو به

أهدي لك المدح وأرجو به

من قرب أولاديَ درًّا يتيم

من قرب أولاديَ درًّا يتيم

I offer you praise, and through it I hope

for the peerless pearl of my children’s nearness.

أيتمهم بعدي وإني على

أيتمهم بعدي وإني على

بابك لاهٍ في جنان النعيم

بابك لاهٍ في جنان النعيم

My absence has orphaned them, while I am

at your gate, carefree in the gardens of bliss.

يقول شعري كلما حفه

يقول شعري كلما حفه

نداك في أوقات حالي الرميم

نداك في أوقات حالي الرميم

My poetry says, whenever it is enfolded

by your bounty’s dew in my times of decay:

يا نجل محيي الدين سبحان من

يا نجل محيي الدين سبحان من

أحيا بنعماك نباتي الهشيم

أحيا بنعماك نباتي الهشيم

O son of Muhyi al-Din, glory be to Him who

revived my withered plants through your favors.

لا سمع للاّثم في حبكم

لا سمع للاّثم في حبكم

أعوذ بالله السميع العليم

أعوذ بالله السميع العليم

No heed to the sinner where love for you is concerned;

I seek refuge in God, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
