    Enough—gray hair has woven its mail over me.

    So draw back your glance's arrows, O Umamah.

    فلا كيد العذول ولا كرامه

    And curb, O noble lady, beauty's guile;

    Away with the reproacher's guile—no welcome to it!

    Passion's darkness erased my reason, just as

    The judge of humankind has erased the darkness of injustice.

    Lofty-crowned, radiant, a Khazraji,

    Pure in forbearance, blessed in noble courage.

    Though people have cooed in praise of his gifts,

    Through them they have indeed donned the dove's cooing.

    Ibn Daqiq al-‘Id has passed, and lofty honors with him,

    But the scion of the imamate has come to us.

    فما وصفي دقيقاً أو علامه

    His qualities are like the filling of khushkanan pastry;

    So I call him neither 'fine' nor a great scholar.
