قبح الذين عن الجنوك تغافلوا
وتشاغلواand they busied themselves بالكسبِwith earning فيon الأسفارthe journeys
وتشاغلوا بالكسبِ في الأسفار
Shame on those who paid no heed to the harps,
and busied themselves with earning on their travels.
يستيقظونthey wake إلىto نهيقbraying حميرهمtheir donkeys
يستيقظون إلى نهيق حميرهم
وتنامand sleep أعينهمtheir eyes عنheedless of الأوتارthe strings
وتنام أعينهم عن الأوتار
They wake to the braying of their donkeys,
yet their eyes sleep, heedless of the strings.
