أهملت في كتاب هذي البقاع
O you who ask me about my handwriting’s fortune, though
I have been neglected among the scribes of these lands:
معلوميmy stipend الثلثone third; thuluth script وياand oh ليتهif only it were
معلومي الثلث ويا ليته
ورسميَand my allowance النسخcancellation; naskh script وثوبيand my robe الرقاعpatches; riqāʿ script
ورسميَ النسخ وثوبي الرقاع
My stipend is a third (thuluth)—if only it were!
And my allowance is cancelled (naskh), and my robe is patches (riqāʿ).
