    Curving waists—or slender, aged camels—

sweeter to one seeking their bounty than honey.

What triumph for one who dies in their battles,

    among those slender, swaying spears!

And happy is he who enfolds his soul

in loyalty to the son of Imam Ali,

    the Chief Judge, whose gifts

were fashioned of haste to answer hope.

His generosity has no fault except favors

that, arriving first, deny the pleasure of hope.

How many a battle I have had with Time—and indeed

you have warded it off from me, like the Battle of the Camel!

So proceed, elucidating expressions of radiance,

and return to bestowing gifts by the camel-load.
