أبا البقاء أطال الله في نعم
لكfor you البقاءcontinued life وفضلاًand a bounty ليسnot نعدمهwe lack it
لك البقاء وفضلاً ليس نعدمه
O Abu al-Baqa, may God, amid blessings, prolong
your life and a bounty we do not lack.
ياO منone who لهto him نسبٌa lineage عاليlofty السناradiance وحمًىand a sanctuary
يا من له نسبٌ عالي السنا وحمًى
رحبٌspacious ومدحand praise كوشيlike the embroidery of الروضthe garden نرقمهwe embroider it
رحبٌ ومدح كوشي الروض نرقمه
O you whose lineage is lofty in splendor, whose sanctuary
is spacious, and whose praise we embroider like a garden’s brocade.
ماhow أحسنbeautiful البيتthe house; the poetic verse منfrom علياكyour eminence متسقاًwell ordered
ما أحسن البيت من علياك متسقاً
أثنيI bestow praise عليهupon it وآويهand I dwell in it وأنظمهand I compose it
أثني عليه وآويه وأنظمه
How fair the house—and verse—from your eminence, so well ordered!
I praise it, dwell in it, and compose it.
