  1. بأبي غصن كبدر

    قد تثنى وتجلّى

    My father be ransom for a bough like a full moon!

    He has swayed and shone forth.

  2. قلت إذ أضمر قصدي

    قبلة يا بدر هلاّ

    I said, concealing my intent,

    "A kiss, O full moon—won’t you grant one?"

  3. قال من خدّيَ خذها

    قلت بل من فيك أحلى

    He said, "Take it from my cheek."

    I said, "Rather, it is sweeter from your mouth."
