لأرداف من يهواه بعد اعْتزالها
I say to ‘Uthman, the man of letters, who had become enamored
of the buttocks of the one he loves, after shunning them,
وقدand had ساقهاhe drove them منfrom بعدafter ماthat قدalready تغيَّرتthey changed
وقد ساقها من بعد ما قد تغيَّرت
وقدand had هزلتthey grew thin حتَّىuntil بداappeared منfrom هزالهاtheir thinness
وقد هزلت حتَّى بدا من هزالها
and had driven them along after they had changed,
and they had grown thin, until, from their thinness, there appeared...
