وخادم حسن لستُ فيه أعاب
[Opening unclear, possibly “by your two cheeks”]—this is a name and an afflicted deed.
And a handsome servant, for whom I am not blamed.
وماand not شئتُI wished إلاَّexcept أنto أذلُّI humble عواذِليmy reproachers
وما شئتُ إلاَّ أن أذلُّ عواذِلي
علىon the grounds أنَّthat رأييmy judgment فيin هواكlove for you صوابright
على أنَّ رأيي في هواك صواب
I wished only to humble those who reproach me,
For my judgment in loving you is right.
