As for Ibn Ya‘qub, he is the most generous of humankind,
The son of Jacob is the brightest of mankind
And the most learned of the people—I have no doubt.
The most learned of people, I do not doubt

He gives generously of wealth and of speech,
He gives generously of wealth and speech
With the fullest worldly bounty and with substance.
With the truest honor and essence

May he ever be like Venus in his cheerfulness,
His face remains like a blossoming flower
And, in generosity toward the noble, like Jupiter.
And like Venus, he brings dew to the heat
