رفقاً بقلبٍ صبره حائر
And a merchant—I said to him when he gazed:
And a merchant, I told him, if we become delighted,
“Be gentle with a heart whose patience is bewildered,
Be gentle with a heart whose patience is perplexed,

ومقلة تنهب طيب الكرى

and an eye—you plunder sweet slumber
And an eyelash that plunders the goodness of meadows,
from it, before your very eyes, O merchant!”
From it, over your eye, O merchant
