وأغيد كلَّما تجنى

وأغيد كلَّما تجنى

وَرَّثَ بين القلوب جمرا

وَرَّثَ بين القلوب جمرا

And a graceful youth, whenever he feigns a grievance,

Whenever the springtime comes around

leaves glowing embers among hearts.

And stokes the embers in all hearts

يميل تيهاً كأنما قد

يميل تيهاً كأنما قد

سقته تلك العيون خمرا

سقته تلك العيون خمرا

He sways in pride, as though

He seems to wander, lost, as though

those eyes had given him wine to drink.

Those eyes of his have made him drunk

تالله لا فاتني لِقاه

تالله لا فاتني لِقاه

وعين كيسي عليه حمرا

وعين كيسي عليه حمرا

By God, I shall not miss meeting him,

By God, his meeting I'll not miss

while my purse's eye is red on his account.

And keep my eager eyes on him
