أودع مولانا على نيَّة اللقا

سريعاً وعودي نحو إحسانه الغمر

سريعاً وعودي نحو إحسانه الغمر

I bid our lord farewell, intending to meet again

soon, and to return to his abundant bounty;

فيمنحني بيتاً على النهرِ حاصلا

فيمنحني بيتاً على النهرِ حاصلا

وأمنحه خمسين بيتاً على بحر

وأمنحه خمسين بيتاً على بحر

so he grants me a house standing beside the river,

and I grant him fifty verses in a poetic meter.
