أصبحت لم أخشَ للزَّمان أذىً

أصبحت لم أخشَ للزَّمان أذىً

وشافعيّ الزَّمان لي شافع

وشافعيّ الزَّمان لي شافع

I now fear no harm from Time,

I no longer fear the harm of time,

And the Shafi‘i of the age is my intercessor.

And time intercedes for me as an intercessor,

حيَّتك قاضي القضاة من مدحٍ

حيَّتك قاضي القضاة من مدحٍ

نجوم حمدٍ سعيدة الطالع

نجوم حمدٍ سعيدة الطالع

Chief of Judges, from praise you have been greeted

Greetings, O Judge of judges, with praise,

By stars of acclaim, auspicious in their rising.

Stars of happy praise, auspicious rising,

وجاءَ قدر الإمام سيدنا الح

وجاءَ قدر الإمام سيدنا الح

سين صوبٌ من الرّضا هامع

سين صوبٌ من الرّضا هامع

And there came to the stature of the Imam, our master al-Hu-

And the fate of the Imam our master Al-Hussein came,

sayn, a streaming downpour of favor.

A glimpse of satisfaction flashed,

ذاك الحسين الذي مضى فأنا

ذاك الحسين الذي مضى فأنا

لا هو ظامٍ إلى اللقا جائع

لا هو ظامٍ إلى اللقا جائع

That is al-Husayn who has departed; so I—

That is Al-Hussein who passed away so I

Not he—am thirsty and hungry for the meeting.

Am not a confused one yearning for the meeting,

ذاك الذي كنت من عوارفه

ذاك الذي كنت من عوارفه

أسند عن عاصمٍ وعن المنى نافع

أسند عن عاصمٍ وعن المنى نافع

That is the one through whose favors I used to

That one whom I was of his mystics

Cite ‘Asim—and, concerning hopes, Nafi‘.

Reliant from a protector and from Al-Minna a benefactor,

مباشروا الجامعِ الذين همُ

مباشروا الجامعِ الذين همُ

صبحي ولكن على المنى مانع

صبحي ولكن على المنى مانع

The mosque’s administrators, who are

Those who frequented the all-inclusive

My dawn, and yet a hindrance to my hopes—

My morning but preventing at Al-Minna,

لولا نداك العميم يشملنا

لولا نداك العميم يشملنا

ما كان بيني وبينهم جامع

ما كان بيني وبينهم جامع

Were it not for your all-embracing bounty covering us,

If not for Your all-encompassing call that includes us

There would be no bond between me and them.

There would have been no unifier between them and me
