May a cloud’s downpour water al-ʿIzzī’s grave.
The noble raincloud watered the barren land,
And oh, would that [its occupant] could behold this morning,
Oh if only it would lodge there till morn,

And see a face among humankind that adorned its uncle—its beauty spot—
To see a face in this world that adorns its cheek,
Though I have always known the beauty spot to adorn the face.
For I know that beauty enhances the cheek.
