And when his glances fell upon me,
And when his eyes gazed toward me,
I raised my voice in takbīr—raised it high.
I raised my voice high, proclaiming 'God is greatest!'
فياSo, oh لكyou (exclamatory) فيin الحسنbeauty منsuch a أغيدgraceful youth
فيا لك في الحسن من أغيد
تبدّىhe appeared غزالاًas a gazelle فكبرتso I proclaimed 'God is greatest' سبعاseven times
تبدّى غزالاً فكبرت سبعا
Ah, what a graceful beauty you are!
Oh, what a graceful beauty you are!
He appeared as a gazelle, and I cried the takbīr seven times.
He appeared as a gazelle, so I proclaimed 'God is greatest!' seven times.
