May the rain greet a grave whose dweller you honored
May rain greet a grave whose dweller you treated kindly,
with blessed gifts and lamentation.
with benevolent gifts and lamentation,

With consolation, too, you crushed the foes when they beheld
and honor with which you humbled foes when they saw
such elevation of station and such overflowing bounty.
an elevation of rank and an outpouring of generosity.

If a man can crush through consolation his enemies
He who humbled his foes through condolences,
and the envious—what then when celebrations come?
and the envious—how much more through rejoicing!
