ينبيك أنَّ حديث الصبر مصروف
A chain-linked account of tears is shed,
A prolonged tale of tears that flows
telling you that the tale of patience is set aside.
Warns you that the talk of patience has run its course

And every utterance of reproach is a fable,
And that all the words of reproach are nonsense
and all the talebearers report is distortion.
And all that the slanderers convey is distortion

Hands paralyzed and their glances blinded

Playfully she calls curses down on dunes and branches;
She blames the armpits and branches while playing
the dunes are assailed with cries, the bough is snapped.
Yet the armpits are plucked and the branches pruned

My poems contain youthfulness about her while she
a glance that finishes off one wounded in the heart.
Alleviates the wound of passion with a glance

They said, 'The full moon resembles her countenance.'
They said the crescent moon told of her rising
We said, 'You speak truly, but the likeness is strained.'
We said you speak true but there is some ambiguity

As the Nile of Egypt told of the generosity of its flood
if only the Nile did not delay in keeping its promise.
Unless the Nile’s faithfulness was prone to delay

I composed lamentations for him in a style
of his merits—how fine a link to merit!
Commended for merit, appended to merit

The king’s counselor presents his pens
in bounty and battle, transfers and intimidation.
For generosity and valor, alternating and warning

The evident good fortune, if his virtues were diffused
across the horizon, no moon would appear eclipsed.
In the horizon, no eclipsed moon would appear

Serene of face, he gives wherever a bright face turns

The hand of sustenance knocked at my door, unyielding

So I said, "May the sister of sustenance be sexually abused," in provocation
