وقيلand it is asked هلdid أجدىyield benefit المديحthe praise الذيwhich
وقيل هل أجدى المديح الذي
حبرتهyou composed it فيon مجدِهِhis glory العاليlofty
حبرته في مجدِهِ العالي
And it is asked, 'Was there any gain from the praise
And it is said, did the praise which
you composed on his lofty glory?'

إنif قلتُI say لاno كذَّبنيwill call me a liar الناسthe people أوor
إن قلتُ لا كذَّبني الناس أو
قلتُI say نعمyes كذَّبنيwill prove me a liar حاليmy condition
قلتُ نعم كذَّبني حالي
If I say 'No,' people will call me a liar; or
If I say no, people will call me a liar or
if I say 'Yes,' my condition will prove me a liar.
If I say yes, my condition will call me a liar
