قالواthey said وقدand indeed زدتنيyou granted me more برًّاkindness وتكرمةًand honor
قالوا وقد زدتني برًّا وتكرمةً
ياO خيرthe best منof those whom لندَىfor the bounty of كفّa hand أناديهِI call upon him
يا خير من لندَى كفّ أناديهِ
They said, when you had shown me still more kindness and honor—
They said, as you've been so kind and generous to me,
O best of those I call upon for a hand’s bounty—
O best of those whose palms I call out to in need,
ماذاwhat قبضتdid you receive نهارon the day of العشرthe tenth قلتُI said لهمto them
ماذا قبضت نهار العشر قلتُ لهم
قبضتُI received ميقاتَthe appointed term of موسىMoses منfrom أياديهِhis benefactions
قبضتُ ميقاتَ موسى من أياديهِ
“What did you receive on the tenth day?” I said to them,
What did you gain on the tenth day, they asked.
“I received Moses’ appointed term from his benefactions.”
I gained my appointment with Moses from his hands.
