أزيحت بجدوى راحتيه عوائقي

My sphere held sway with the vizier; how often

The stars guided me to the minister, and often

My obstacles were cleared by the bounty of his two palms.

my obstacles were removed through his kindness.

وقد كان قدري عنده متدرّجاً

وبيتي عميراً بالندى المتلاحق

And my standing with him had been rising by degrees,

My fate with him progressed gradually,

And my home flourished with unceasing bounty.

and my home became filled with abundant blessings.

فللدرج اللاتي حوت بتّ باكياً

So for the degrees it encompassed, I spent the night weeping,
