The imam is too exalted for the verses one offers;
The Imam refrained from poems which expose him
So all our thoughts are occupied with prayer.
For all our minds are busy with prayer and supplication
وفضلهand his excellence يقتضيناrequires us أنto نقولwe speak فماso not
وفضله يقتضينا أن نقول فما
نعنيwe mean سواهother than him إذاwhenever فهْناwe spoke بأشعارin verse
نعني سواه إذا فهْنا بأشعار
And his excellence bids us speak; thus we do not
And his merit requires us to say nothing but
Mean anyone but him whenever we utter verse.
Meaning him alone when we utter poetry

One whose soul yearned for its loftiest abode and sped forth,
He whose soul longed for the Most High abode overflowed
And longed for a dwelling among tomorrow’s gardens.
And from the gardens of tomorrow longed for home

And rejoice in your feast amid the blessings of knowledge,
Be comfortable in your absence in the blessings of knowledge
Of firm resolve in affairs, followed by a rise in rank.
Above decisive matters followed by raised status

And remain mankind’s succor, O rain for their scout,
O downpour of people's aid, O their raining cloud
And the aid of their needy, O son of the Ansar.
And victory of their deprived, O son of supporters

If whoever you glance at escapes the fire of misery, then in
If one is saved from the fire of miserable woe by your glance
Allegiance to one like you lies what saves from the Fire.
Then in the loyalty of the like of you is what rescues from the fire
