بروحي جيرة أبقوا دموعي
وقدand indeed رحلواthey departed بقلبيwith my heart واصْطباريand my patient endurance
وقد رحلوا بقلبي واصْطباري
May my soul ransom the neighbors who left me my tears,
With my soul as their neighbor, they left my tears behind
Yet departed with my heart and my patient endurance.
Though they traveled away with my heart and patience
كأناas though we للمجاورةto be neighbors اقْتسمناwe shared out
كأنا للمجاورة اقْتسمنا
فقلبيso my heart جارهمtheir neighbor والدمعand the tears جاريmy neighbor; also, flowing
فقلبي جارهم والدمع جاري
As though we had shared things out to be neighbors:
As if we had divided the neighborhood between us
So my heart is their neighbor, and tears are my neighbor.
So my heart became their neighbor, and my tears kept falling
