وهنّ الورى في العلم والجود واحدا
May you endure as long as the days endure, immortal in excellence,
The days of generosity and benevolence remain eternal,
and gladden humankind, unrivaled in learning and generosity.
While the world languishes in knowledge, magnanimity and oneness.

Though in adversity, my situation never fails to attend,
to you for all manner of gifts and favors.
Your gatherings of joy and customs.

You continue to grow in wisdom and forbearance,

وحقكand by your honor لوif جاءَcame الغمامُthe cloud بشامةٍwith rain-watchers
وحقك لو جاءَ الغمامُ بشامةٍ

يساجل كفيك الندى جاء واردا
And by your honor, were the cloud to come with rain-watchers,
You deserve that, if clouds were to gather in warning,
vying with your palms in bounty, it would arrive seeking water.
The dew would argue with your palms in defense.

And if the Nile's flood rivaled you in giving
If the Nile's abundance were to bless your giving,
in Egypt, people would find no pleasure in its rise.
People would not deem Egypt deserving of more.
