إن في نائب الشآم اعتباراً

إن في نائب الشآم اعتباراً

للبرايا ما بين عالٍ ودون

للبرايا ما بين عالٍ ودون

Indeed, there is a lesson in the deputy of al-Sham

In the wilderness of Damascus there are lessons

for humankind, from the high to the low.

For that which is between the heights and the lows

كانَ أرغون شاه فاجأ الذب

كانَ أرغون شاه فاجأ الذب

ح فأمسى شاه بلا أرغون

ح فأمسى شاه بلا أرغون

He was Arghun Shah; suddenly came the slaugh-

Argon Shah suddenly surprised the prey

-ter, and he became a sheep—Shah without Arghun.

And ended the day a Shah without Argon
