سيدي أصبحت مقروح الحشا

سيدي أصبحت مقروح الحشا

وبشيِّ اللحم في ذا اليوم عان

وبشيِّ اللحم في ذا اليوم عان

My lord, I have become sore within,

My friend, I have become wounded prey

and today I suffer over the roasting of meat.

And the fragrance of meat on this day suffers

زخرف الألفاظ قد أرسلته

زخرف الألفاظ قد أرسلته

فعسى تملأ بيتي بالدُّخان

فعسى تملأ بيتي بالدُّخان

I have sent the ornament of words;

The ornament of words I have sent forth

so perhaps you will fill my house with smoke.

That my house may be filled with smoke
