يا صاحباً أسعى إلى بابِهِ

وأشتكي الفاقة والكلفَه

O friend to whose door I hasten,

O friend, I hasten to his door

And to whom I complain of poverty and hardship,

شهرك ذو القعدة فاهْنأ به

وارْحم من المملوك ذي الوقفه

وارْحم من المملوك ذي الوقفه

Your month is Dhu al-Qa'dah, so rejoice in it,

Your month is Dhu al-Qa'dah, so congratulate it

And have mercy on the servant who stands waiting.

And have mercy on the slave in hardship
