أسفت لشاشي الذي قد مضَى

أسفت لشاشي الذي قد مضَى

وفازَ به سارق حاشه

I grieved for my turban, which had gone,

I regret my television that is now gone

And a thief gained it by snatching it away.

Taken by a sneaky thief in the night

ووالله ما بي ممَّا جرَى

سوى قولُهم صفعوا شاشه

And by God, nothing about what happened troubles me

By God I have no part in what has happened

Except their saying, “They slapped his turban.”
