عجبت لحاسدٍ أضناه أمري

عجبت لحاسدٍ أضناه أمري

وحملني لهذا الأمر همّه

وحملني لهذا الأمر همّه

I marvel at an envious man whom my affairs have worn down,

I am amazed at an envier whose affair has weakened him

And whose worry over this matter has burdened me.

And he has burdened me with this matter out of his concern

كلانا فائض الأجفان مهما

كلانا فائض الأجفان مهما

بكى حنقاً بكيت عليه رحمه

بكى حنقاً بكيت عليه رحمه

Both of us have overflowing eyes: whenever

Both of us have overflowing eyelids whenever

He weeps in rage, I weep for him in pity.

He cries out of resentment, I cry for him out of mercy
