Who betrays me in money and affection.

One who betrays my wealth and affection.

فمتى أراهُ وخلفه

عاتٍ من الأقوام عاد

عاتٍ من الأقوام عاد

So when shall I see him, with behind him

Whenever I see him surrounded

A ruthless aggressor from among the people,

By a group of people, I know he has turned against me.

ونداؤه هذا جزاً

ونداؤه هذا جزاً

فأقول قد صدق المنادي

فأقول قد صدق المنادي

And his cry, 'This is retribution!'—

This call of his is a punishment -

So I may say, 'The crier has indeed spoken truly'?

I say the caller has spoken the truth.
