دموع الأسى من مرسلٍ ومسلسل
My two friends—while longing’s tale is told
My beloved, and yearnings relate their tale,
by sorrow’s tears, some flowing freely, some linked in chains—
Tears of sorrow from a messenger and a series,

قفا نبك من ذكرى حبيبٍ ومنزل
for one who dwells in the heart, yet departs with it,
About one who settled in the heart and moved on,
Stop, you two; let us weep at the memory of a beloved and a dwelling.
Stand and cry from the memory of a beloved and home.

Or else, look from his mole upon his cheek
Or look from his cheek above his mole,
toward the finest fire, beside which the finest one warms himself.
To the best fire near it is the best resort,

I was devoted to it so my love spoke eloquently, as if
the virtues of the sons of al-Subki, to one who reflects.
It were the fine traits of the people of Sabka to the observer.

the succor of the hopeful, the protection of the supplicant.
The relief of hope, protection of the supplicant,

For the judge of the judges of the Muslims,
bounty and a hand like smiling lightning.
Freshness and a hand like the sparkling lightning.

An imam—from his name and qualities come to us
A leader for us, from his name and features,
torrents of sustenance descending from on high.
Torrents of sustenance pouring down from above.
