لفلان في الديوان صورة حاضر
وكأنَّهand as though he منamong جملةِthe company of الغيابthe absent
وكأنَّه من جملةِ الغياب
In the bureau, so-and-so has the appearance of one present,
His image in the gathering is present
Yet he seems to be among the absent.
As if he's among all the absent
لمdid not يدرknow ماwhat مخرومةa perforated sheet وجريدهand a register
لم يدر ما مخرومة وجريده
سبحانglory be to رازقهhis Provider بغيرwithout حسابreckoning
سبحان رازقه بغير حساب
He does not know what a perforated sheet or a register is.
He knows not that his cheek is wounded and his spear broken
Glory be to Him who provides for him without reckoning!
Glory to his Sustainer without account
