كَنزُ الغِنَى كَهفُ أَمنِ الخائِفِ الوَجلِ
The pride of humankind, a Haydari whose bounty reaches all.
The pride of mankind, my Master whose wishes are fulfilled
A treasury of wealth, a safe refuge for the fearful and trembling.
The treasure of wealth, the cave of safety for the fearful fugitive
نَجمُstar السُّهَىSuha فَلَكِيَّاتٌcelestial مَرَاتِبهُhis ranks
نَجمُ السُّهَى فَلَكِيَّاتٌ مَرَاتِبهُ
عَفُّchaste الرِّداthe mantle عَلَوِيٌّof Ali طَاهِرُpure الخُلَلِcharacter traits
عَفُّ الرِّدا عَلَوِيٌّ طَاهِرُ الخُلَلِ
The star Suha, whose ranks are celestial.
The star of glory whose stations are in the celestial spheres
Chaste of mantle, an Alawi pure in character.
The most high, pure, without any fault
لَيثُlion الثَّرَىthe earth قَبَسٌa flame تَهمِيpour like rain أَنَامِلُهُhis fingertips
لَيثُ الثَّرَى قَبَسٌ تَهمِي أَنَامِلُهُ
رَحبُspacious الفَنَاthe courtyard نَجلُscion خَيرِthe best الخَلقِcreation والرُّسُلِand the messengers
رَحبُ الفَنَا نَجلُ خَيرِ الخَلقِ والرُّسُلِ
A lion of the earth, a flame whose fingertips rain bounty.
The lion of valor, a meteor blazing forth from his hands
Broad of courtyard, a scion of the best of creation and the messengers.
The vast grace, son of the best of mankind and the Messengers
بَدرُfull moon البَهَاsplendor أُفُقٌa horizon تَبدُوappear كَوَاكِبُهُhis stars
بَدرُ البَهَا أُفُقٌ تَبدُو كَوَاكِبُهُ
مُروِيquencher الصّدَىthirst مَورِدِa watering place العَسَّالَةِthe quivering spears الذُّبُلِthe slender ones
مُروِي الصّدَى مَورِدِ العَسَّالَةِ الذُّبُلِ
A full moon of splendor, a horizon whose stars appear.
The full moon of splendor, whose rising stars appear in the horizons
Quencher of thirst, a watering place for quivering, slender spears.
Quencher of those who recite his virtues, watering place of the languid honey
سَامِيlofty الذَرَىthe summits صَاعِدٌrising تُخشَىare feared نَوَازِلُهُhis descending blows
سَامِي الذَرَى صَاعِدٌ تُخشَى نَوَازِلُهُ
رُوحُsoul المُنَىhopes مَنبَعُwellspring الآلاءِblessings والخَوَلِand bestowed wealth
رُوحُ المُنَى مَنبَعُ الآلاءِ والخَوَلِ
Lofty of summit, rising high, his descending blows are feared.
The lofty one, ascendant, whose terrors are feared
The soul of hopes, the wellspring of blessings and bestowed wealth.
The spirit of eternity, source of favors and friendship
طَودُa mountain النُّهَىwisdom عِندَat بَيتِhouse المَالِwealth صَاحِبُهُhis companion
طَودُ النُّهَى عِندَ بَيتِ المَالِ صَاحِبُهُ
نابُfang الرَّدَىdeath أَجلٌan appointed end فيin صُورَةِthe form الرَّجُلِthe man
نابُ الرَّدَى أَجلٌ في صُورَةِ الرَّجُلِ
A mountain of wisdom; his companion is at the treasury.
Repeller of prohibitions, its Master present at the House of wealth
Death's fang, an appointed end in the form of a man.
Sharp sword of the law taking the form of the man
طِبُّskilled القِرَىhospitality كَفُّhand يُمنِgood fortune الدَّهرِtime كَاهِلُهُhis shoulder
طِبُّ القِرَى كَفُّ يُمنِ الدَّهرِ كَاهِلُهُ
سِمطُa necklace الثَّنَاpraise زِينَةُadornment الأَجيَادِnecks وَالدُّوَلِand realms
سِمطُ الثَّنَا زِينَةُ الأَجيَادِ وَالدُّوَلِ
Skilled in hospitality; his shoulder is the hand of time's good fortune.
Pleasant perfume of towns, palm of time whose shoulder bears it
A necklace of praise, the adornment of necks and realms.
Proud ornament of generosity and kingdom
رَوضٌa garden زَهَاbloomed مَنهَلٌa watering place طَابَتbecame sweet مَشَارِبُهُits draughts
رَوضٌ زَهَا مَنهَلٌ طَابَت مَشَارِبُهُ
حَتفُdoom العِدَاthe foes ضَارِبُsmiter الهَامَاتِheads والقُلَلِand crowns of heads
حَتفُ العِدَا ضَارِبُ الهَامَاتِ والقُلَلِ
A garden in bloom, a watering place whose draughts are sweet.
A garden, beautiful, a spring whose drinks are sweet
The doom of foes, the smiter of heads and crowns.
Mountain of protection, striker of the lofty and high
بَحرٌa sea جَرَىflowed عَلقَمِيٌّbitter as colocynth مُجَّwas spat out عَاسِلُهُits honey-gatherer
بَحرٌ جَرَى عَلقَمِيٌّ مُجَّ عَاسِلُهُ
شَمسُsun الدُّناthe worlds صُبحdawn لَيلِnight الحادِثِthe calamity الجَلَلِgrievous
شَمسُ الدُّنا صُبح لَيلِ الحادِثِ الجَلَلِ
A flowing sea, bitter as colocynth, whose honey-gatherer was spat out.
An abundant sea in motion, its billows stirred up
The sun of the worlds, dawn in the night of grievous calamity.
Sun of life, dawn of the night of tremendous events
مُعطِيgiver اللَّهَىlavish gifts نَبَوِيَّاتٌprophetic مَنَاقِبُهُhis virtues
مُعطِي اللَّهَى نَبَوِيَّاتٌ مَنَاقِبُهُ
غَيثُrain النَّدَىgenerosity مَورِدٌa watering place أَشهَىmore delectable مِنَthan العَسَلِhoney
غَيثُ النَّدَى مَورِدٌ أَشهَى مِنَ العَسَلِ
A giver of lavish gifts, whose virtues are prophetic.
Granter of desires, his virtues are prophetic
A rain of generosity, a watering place more delectable than honey.
Rain of light, watering place sweeter than honey
مَقنَىa shaded refuge الثَّرَىthe earth فَاضِلٌvirtuous عَمَّتreached all فَوَاضِلُهُhis favors
مَقنَى الثَّرَى فَاضِلٌ عَمَّت فَوَاضِلُهُ
بَادِيmanifest السَّنَاradiance نَيّرٌa luminary يَسمُوsoars عَلَىabove زُحَلِSaturn
بَادِي السَّنَا نَيّرٌ يَسمُو عَلَى زُحَلِ
The earth's shaded refuge, a virtuous man whose favors reach all.
The fulfillment of excellence, his superiorities encompass all
Of manifest radiance, a luminary soaring above Saturn.
Guide, shining, rising above Saturn
دَهرٌan age دَهَاoverwhelmed قَدَرٌa fate دَارَتcame round نَوَائِبُهُits calamities
دَهرٌ دَهَا قَدَرٌ دَارَت نَوَائِبُهُ
فَجرُdawn الهُدَىguidance ذُوpossessor of المَعالِيlofty distinctions البَاهِرَاتِdazzling عَلِيAli
فَجرُ الهُدَى ذُو المَعالِي البَاهِرَاتِ عَلِي
A devastating age, a fate whose calamities have come round.
An age which passed, a decree which turned its calamities
The dawn of guidance, bearer of dazzling distinctions—Ali.
