يا مصدر البيض محمرّه وسمر الصعد
ومنand one who بعزمهby his resolve إلىto سمكthe height of الثرياthe Pleiades صعدascended
ومن بعزمه إلى سمك الثريا صعد
O you who bring bright swords back reddened, and dark, straight spears,
O source of eggs, red and brown,
And who, through your resolve, have climbed to the height of the Pleiades,
And he who with resolve ascended to the Pleiades,
كلٌّeveryone وعدتهyou promised him بوعدwith a promise ياO سلالةscion of معدMaʿadd
كلٌّ وعدته بوعد يا سلالة معد
إلّاexcept أناme بعدas yet ياO موردyou who make drink قناةthe spear of المعدal-Maʿadd (reading uncertain)
إلّا أنا بعد يا مورد قناة المعد
You have made everyone a promise, O scion of Maʿadd,
Each promised with a promise, O descendant of Ma'ad,
Except me, as yet, O you who make al-Maʿadd’s spear drink.
