His radiance is manifest; his ranks are celestial.

شَمسُ الدُّنَا أُفُقٌ تَبدُو كَوَاكِبُهُ

شَمسُ الدُّنَا أُفُقٌ تَبدُو كَوَاكِبُهُ

A rain of bounty, a flame—his fingertips pour like rain.

The sun of the worlds, a horizon whose stars appear.

حَتفُ العِدَا صَاعِدٌ تُخشَى نَوازِلُهُ

حَتفُ العِدَا صَاعِدٌ تُخشَى نَوازِلُهُ

سمطُ الثَّنَا عِندَ بَيتِ المَالِ صَاحِبُهُ

سمطُ الثَّنَا عِندَ بَيتِ المَالِ صَاحِبُهُ

The doom of foes, ascending—the calamities he brings are feared.

A necklace of praise—its owner is at the treasury.

نَابُ الرَّدَى كَفُّ يُمنِ الدَّهرِ كَاهِلُهُ

نَابُ الرَّدَى كَفُّ يُمنِ الدَّهرِ كَاهِلُهُ

رُوحُ المُنَى مَنهَلٌ طَابَت مَشَارِبُهُ

رُوحُ المُنَى مَنهَلٌ طَابَت مَشَارِبُهُ

The fang of death—his shoulder is the hand of Time’s good fortune.

The spirit of hopes, a spring whose draughts are sweet.

مُروِي الصَّدَى عَلقَمِيٌّ مجَّ عَاسِلُهُ

مُروِي الصَّدَى عَلقَمِيٌّ مجَّ عَاسِلُهُ

رَحبُ الفَنَا نَبَوِيَّاتٌ مَنَاقِبُهُ

رَحبُ الفَنَا نَبَوِيَّاتٌ مَنَاقِبُهُ

The quencher of thirst, bitter as colocynth—his honey-gatherer spat it out.

Spacious of courtyard, his virtues are prophetic.

عَفُّ الرِّدا فَاضِلٌ عَمَّت فَوَاضِلُهُ

عَفُّ الرِّدا فَاضِلٌ عَمَّت فَوَاضِلُهُ

كَنزُ الغِنَى قَدَرٌ دَارَت نَوَائِبُهُ

كَنزُ الغِنَى قَدَرٌ دَارَت نَوَائِبُهُ

Pure of cloak and virtuous—his bounties embrace all.

A treasure of wealth, a fate whose calamities have come round.
