And a singer's voice imitated, in his rhymed speech,
the gray doves in warbling and calling.
إِذاwhenever تغنّىhe sang غداbecame فيin جنبِthe side of نَغمتهِhis melody
إِذا تغنّى غدا في جنبِ نَغمتهِ
هاروتُHarut فيin حلباتِthe arenas of السبقِthe race سكّيتاlast to finish
هاروتُ في حلباتِ السبقِ سكّيتا
Whenever he sang, beside his melody,
Harut became the last to finish in the racing arenas.
ماnever حازgathered درَّthe pearls of معانيthe meanings of لفظهِhis words أذنيmy ear
ما حاز درَّ معاني لفظهِ أذني
إلّاexcept that يساقطhe makes fall منfrom عينيmy eye يواقيتاrubies
إلّا يساقط من عيني يواقيتا
My ear never gathered the pearls of his words' meanings
without his making rubies fall from my eye.
