ومن إلى الوفد رفده والسحاب يسير
O you in whose eyes grave calamity seems slight,
Roams with eyes that see the mighty misfortunes pass
And you whose bounty travels to the delegation alongside the clouds.
And sends the caravan its gift of cloud and rain
كمhow many غنيتyou enriched فقيرa poor man وكمand how many جبرتyou mended كسيرa broken man
كم غنيت فقير وكم جبرت كسير
ولديكand with you بالرأيthrough counsel صختunclear; perhaps 'proved sound' كيمياءalchemy المالwealth
ولديك بالرأي صخت كيمياء المال
How many a poor man you have enriched, and how many a broken man you have mended!
How oft made poor men rich and mended what was broken
With you, through counsel, the alchemy of wealth [perhaps: has proved sound; the verb is unclear].
Your counsel is an elixir, straightening crooked gold
