Above the two deer eyes of yours, Nu'nan,
And on the pages of your cheeks is a copy of the wisdom of the Greeks.
And in the pages of your cheek, a copy of the wisdom of Greece,

يا للعجب نارها تضرم بكل جنان
ولحاظكand your glances الحورdark-pupiled and white-eyed تسكنهاdwell within it وهنّand they are جنانgardens
ولحاظك الحور تسكنها وهنّ جنان
How wondrous! Its fire blazes in every heart.
Oh, the wonder! Its fire inflames every paradise,
And your dark-eyed glances dwell within it, though they are gardens.
And your veil, maidens dwell therein, Houris of Paradise.
