And for none but the fair does it feel passion or concern.

And finds no interest in complexions besides fair

إن قلت خلي لهذا الغيّ واتبعني

يقول بعض وجوه العزّ يمنعني

If I say, 'Leave this waywardness and follow me,'

If I say, leave this love and come follow me

It says, 'Some faces of glory hold me back.'

Some faces of dignity say, it does not allow me
