وَنَبَّهَت ريحُها الخُزامى
Take your ease, for the south wind has begun to blow,
The ostrich has been gracious and kind
And its breeze has awakened the lavender.
And its scent awakened the sleepy minds

And turn toward a grove by night,
It yearned for a tent in the dark of night
Where a qudāmā bird flutters, quivering.
Swaying gently towards where my people recline

Rhymes sway its limbs,
It sways its branches, rhyming couplets
For it, while drinking companions sway its cups.
As though a grieving mother who pines
كَأَنَّas though أُمّاًa mother بِهاin it رَؤوماًtender

As though a tender mother were there,
Rocking orphaned children with tenderness
Cradling orphans from among her drinking companions.
After they had drunk to the very last line
