أَوَجهُكَis your face بَسّامٌever-smiling وَطَرفِيَand my eye باكيweeping
وَعَدلُكَand your justice مَوجودٌpresent وَمِثلِيَand one like me شاكيcomplaining
Is your face smiling while my eye weeps,
Your faces are smiling, while my eyes are weeping,
and your justice present while one like me complains?
You have justice, while I have complaining,
وَتَأبىand refuses اِهتِضاميmy being wronged فيin جَنابِكَyour protection هِمَّةٌnoble resolve
تَهُزُّكَstirs you هَزَّthe shaking of الريحِthe wind فَرعَa branch of أَراكِarak
And a noble resolve refuses to let me be wronged under your protection,
My oppression refuses to infringe upon your dignity,
stirring you as the wind shakes a branch of arak.
That shakes you like the shaking of the wind shaking a tender shoot.
وَقَدand indeed نامَhas slept مِنّيuntroubled by me ظالِمٌan oppressor لِيَto me ذاعِرٌcausing terror
فَياso, O هَبَّةَrush of السَيفِthe sword الحُسامِthe keen-edged دَراكِto the rescue!
And my oppressor, who terrifies me, sleeps untroubled by me;
A tyrant has slept from me fleeing,
so, O rush of the keen-edged sword—to the rescue!
So O gift of the sharp sword, catch up!
