نَدّىshed dew النَسيمُthe breeze فَماso how أَرَقَّsoft وَأَعطَراand fragrant
وَهفاand swayed القَضيبُthe branch فَماso how أَغَضَّtender وَأَنضَراand fresh
The breeze shed dew—how soft and fragrant!
And the branch swayed—how tender and fresh!

So I led her forth, a virgin bride; whenever I kissed her,
She cast a red veil over my face.
وَرَفَلتُand I walked with robes trailing بَينَbetween قَميصِa shirt of غَيمٍcloud هَلهَلٍloosely woven

And I moved, robes trailing, between a gauzy shirt of cloud
And a yellow cloak of sunlight, already torn.

Moist, and releases ambergris from the clouds.
