وَمَعشوقَةِand one beloved الحُسنِbeauty مَمشوقَةٍslender
يَهيمُis enamored بِهاof her الطَرفُthe eye وَالمَعطِسُand the nose
And a slender one, beloved for her beauty—
And the beloved of beauty, so finely drawn
the eye and nose are enamored of her.
The glance and the admiring eye are rapt with her
لَهاhers is نُضرَةٌfreshness سِمتُهاI bid for it نَظرَةًa glance
وَتَكلَفُand are enamored بِالأَنفُسِof what is most precious الأَنفُسُsouls
Hers is a freshness for which I bid a glance,
She has a bloom whose trait is a glance
and souls are enamored of what is most precious.
And the most precious souls vie for her
فَمِنso from ماءِwater جَفنيmy eyelid لَهاfor her مَكرَعٌa drinking place
فَسيحٌspacious وَمِنand from راحَتيmy palm مَغرِسُa planting bed
So from the water of my eyelid she has a drinking place,
So for her are two pools in my eyes
spacious, and from my palm a planting bed.
A meadow and an orchard in my palm
