بِشُعلَةٍwith a flame مِنfrom شُعَلِflames الباسِvalor
And a chestnut steed, from whom battle is kindled
With flaxen hair, from which strife is kindled,
with a flame from the flames of valor.
With a flame from the torches of valiance,
مِنof جُلَّنارٍpomegranate blossom ناضِرٍfresh خَدُّهُhis cheek
وَأُذُنُهُand his ear مِنof وَرَقِleaves الآسِmyrtle
His cheek is of fresh pomegranate blossom,
With cheeks like bright embers,
and his ear is a myrtle leaf.
And ears like mulberry leaves,
تَطلُعُrises لِلغُرَّةِfor the white forehead blaze فيon وَجهِهِhis face
حَبابَةٌa bubble تَضحَكُlaughs فيin كاسِa cup
There rises, as the white blaze on his face,
For youthfulness, his face shows a dimple
a bubble laughing in a cup.
That smiles in a goblet.
