A once-inhabited abode of your youth lies deserted.
A mighty dwelling was stronger than your youth,
So I stood lamenting a faded trace of it.
So I stood lamenting the outline of it when healthy,
مَثَلَappeared العِذارُthe beard-line هُناكَthere نُؤياًa trench داثِراًeffaced

The beard-line appeared there like an effaced trench,
There the lover's likeness seemed a crumbling dream,
And the moles grew black upon it like hearthstones.
And therein the black tents were folded.
